as suicide, but here's what we do know. Actor Owen Wilson was hospitalized on Sunday, and The National Enquirer and Star magazine are both reporting that Wilson slashed his wrist and took a large number of pills in an apparent suicide attempt.

Wilson is now stable at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.

Owen is said to be in stable condition at the moment. He issued a statement today which read, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.”

According to reports, Owen's brother Andrew discovered his brother inside his Malibu home at noon Sunday with slashed wrists and a nearby empty bottle of pills and called 911. An ambulance rushed the actor to St. John's Hospital for treatment.
