Conventional wisdom says Spears fires anyone around her who suggests that she seek help, and a few botched rehab attempts underscore this belief.

It's also believed that Spears' years in the spotlight may have taken a toll on a young woman who may very well be suffering from some kind of disorder such as manic depression or bipolar disorder.

It's been a long, strange year for the pop star, starting with her divorce from Kevin Federline, father of her two young sons, and culminating in her loss of custody rights.

The story is ongoing, and increasingly it seems clear that Britney Spears needs to seek professional help in order to overcome the issues that are contributing to her erratic behavior.
