Answer:
O.J. Simpson was arrested Sept. 16 at his Palms Casino Resort hotel room amid an investigation into an alleged armed robbery inside a Las Vegas hotel. Media outlets are reporting that Simpson faces several Another man involved in the case has already been arrested and faces charges including robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary with a deadly weapon. According to sources close to the investigation, Simpson said he entered the sports collector's hotel room with a group of friends, one of whom was posing as a potential buyer, after being tipped off that some of his personal items were for sale there, including photographs of his family and himself as a child, and photographs and negatives taken by his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. According to a man who was inside the hotel room, two men accompanied Simpson into the room and pointed guns at the other occupants of the room in what he described as "a home invasion-type robbery." Simpson was acquitted of the murders in 1995, but the jury in a 1997 civil trial found him liable and awarded the Goldmans $33.5 million for their son's wrongful death. Simpson's arrest comes the same week that his book, "If I Did It," went on sale in bookstores across the country. The book, written by Simpson, is the former football star's account of the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ronald Goldman. The book was set for publication last year before a public outcry scuttled those plans. A bankruptcy judge subsequently awarded the book rights to the Goldman family, which edited their commentary into the book and released it this week. They retitled the book "If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer." Proceeds from the sale of the book go to the Ron Goldman Foundation. Simpson is currently behind bars in a Las Vegas jail. It's too soon to tell what charges he'll face, if any, and how long he'll be held in Nevada.
