What's up with the firing of a Grey's Anatomy star?

Answer:
ABC recently decided not to renew the contract of Isaiah Washington,
the embattled star of Grey's Anatomy who twice used an anti-gay slur.

Washington used the slur against co-star T.R. Knight during a confrontation with Patrick Dempsey and repeated the word backstage at the Golden Globes in January while denying the first incident. A public apology to Knight, who announced he was gay days when publicity over the first confrontation hit papers. and others followed.

Washington finished the season but was told earlier this month that he would not be returning to the popular TV hospital drama next season.

In a recent interview with Newsweek magazine, Washington said that racism was a factor in his firing. Also a factor - he's an asshole.

As he told Newsweek, "someone heard the booming voice of a black man and got really scared and that was the beginning of the end for me."

ABC has declined to comment further on the matter. In its one public statement regarding Washington, issued in January, the network said his actions were "unacceptable."
