Soon - sometime this fall when the show returns! While CBS has yet to announce the start of the show's 36th season, actor and comedian Drew Carey will be the show's new host, replacing legendary host Bob Barker, who stepped down last season after 35 years with the show.

"I couldn't be more excited," Carey said
upon his selection last month as the show's new host. "I realize what a big responsibility this is. It's the longest-running game show in American television and I plan to keep it that way."

Carey has some big shoes to fill when he takes up the thin microphone this fall. The Price is Right is a beloved part of America's daytime television diet. In fact, the show is the longest-running game show in TV history. The show debuted on Sept. 4, 1972 and on June 14 was awarded a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show.

Most Americans know Carey best for his raucous comedy, and for his two hit shows - The Drew Carey Show and Whose Line Is It Anyway? While some have doubts about the comedian's ability to host The Price is Right, Carey has already been hosting a game show called Power of 10, a high-stakes show where contestants compete for the chance to win $10 million.

The Price is Right is broadcast 11 to noon Eastern time weekdays on CBS.
