Why isn't George Lucas on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

Answer:
George Lucas doesn't have a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame because his management team (i.e. himself) hasn't approved such a thing. That's right. Anyone can nominate a celebrity for inclusion on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but the celebrity's management must also sign off on it.

So far, George Lucas has remained silent on the issue of why he hasn't agreed to be featured on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. First of all, the legendary creator of Star Wars is notoriously shy. Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame would require him to show up for the induction ceremony.

Second, Lucas has had numerous run-ins with the Hollywood establishment through the years, and his self-imposed exile from the Hollywood Walk of Fame could be due to on-going bad feelings. Lucas was even fined a hefty penalty in 1980 when he refused to include credits at the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back. The penalty also included his ejection from the Director's Guild. That wound cut deep - and at the time George Lucas said he'd had enough of Hollywood and its petty ways.

All that said, George Lucas deserves a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and his lack of a star there seems especially egregious when you consider that Ricky Martin even has a star now. When a member of Menudo gets honored before one of Hollywood's most influential directors, there's something very wrong in Denmark, folks.
