Paul Newman's face appears on food labels nationwide because of Newman's Own, the food company he founded in
1982. Initially selling organic salad dressing, the company has since branched out to include sauces, popcorn and wine. Newman insisted the company's after-tax proceeds benefit charities, which to date have received in excess of $220 million in proceeds.

As a philanthropist, Paul Newman is also remembered for the creation of ‘Hole in The Wall Association' - a group of 11 summer camps across the globe for impoverished children suffering from life-threatening diseases.

To his family and friends, Newman is remembered for his devotion to loved ones. The actor lived a quiet life with wife Joanne Woodward, an actress whom he married in 1958. The couple have three children, and Newman had three children by a previous marriage.
