“Slumdog Millionaire”
won four Golden Globes, including Best Director and Best Picture, Drama.  The television mini-series “John Adams” also took home four, including Best Actress (Laura Linney) and Best Actor (Paul Giamatti) and Best Supporting Actor (Tom Wilkinson).

Other stand-outs include the television series “30 Rock”, which gave Best Actress to Tina Fey and Best Actor to Alec Baldwin.  Kate Winslet garnered two Golden Globes for her roles in “Revolutionary Road” (Best Actress, Drama) and “The Reader” (Best Supporting Actress).  Heath Ledger won a post-humus award for Best Supporting Actor (“Dark Knight”), as well.

Overall, HBO won the most awards for television (thirteen), and Europeans won the most for acting (Kate Winslet, Tom Wilkinson, Colin Farrell, Gabriel Byrne, Sally Hawkins).  The winner for Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical went to “Vicky Christina Barcelona”, a Woody Allen film.  The results, as far as television goes, were very similar to the 2008 Emmy Awards.
