What is Community?

Answer:
Community refers to a group of individuals having a collective identity of
some kind based on something every individual has in common with the others.  Communities can be formed based on family relationships, economic interest, ethnic identity, academic purpose, industrial enterprise, common beliefs and practices, geographic proximity or other common interest

Communities are not necessarily bound to a common geography.  For example, diaspora communities, as in communities of a people group spread across the world, share common culture, beliefs, values and language, but do not share the same geographic territory.

Community can also refer to how a group of people holds property and other items in common with each other.  For example, in many cities there are community centers and parks where funds from the local government go into supporting facilities that members of the local community may use, provided they adhere to regulations, laws and sometimes financial obligations.

In ecological terms, a community is a group of individual organisms and groups of organisms that coexist within a close proximity to each other such that they affect and interact with each other.
