Is there a good horror movie in theaters for Halloween 2007?

Answer:
We think 30 Days of Night is the best horror
film to hit theaters in quite some time - certainly this Halloween. The film takes two of the creepiest elements - snow (think The Thing) and vampires (like you've never seen them before).

The film stars Josh Hartnet as the sheriff of Barrow, Alaska, a small town that goes through a 30-day period of no sunlight each year. You know what that means? Barrow is a hot spot for our fanged, blood-sucking friends.

30 Days of Night is full of suspense. The film creeped us out from the early signs that something is very, very wrong in Barrow to the climactic scenes of vampire-on-human combat.

We haven't seen vampires this creepy - ever. Just looking at them sent a chill up our collective spines. 30 Days of Night tries to humanize the people involved, but we have to be honest. We couldn't care less.

We were too busy being scared to death by the lead vampire and his un-earthly minions. Especially chilling is the violence with which these vampires dispatch their pray. No small nibbles or "vampire hickeys" here. And this was all the better because nothing makes bloodshed stand out more than pure white snow.

By the end of 30 Days of Night, the snow flows crimson.
