What is anime?

Answer:
Merriam Webster describes anime as a
style of animation originating in Japan that is characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes.

Anime movies are often very dramatic with adult-oriented scenes and most anime movies or shows have a lot of violence in them as well.  Anime is not something young children should be watching; however, even parents of teenagers should be cautious because anime movies can cause teenagers to attempt the same stunts in real life.

Anime is different from Manga in that Anime movies often feature futuristic or fantastical scenes while Manga is more realistic.  Some common examples of Anime are Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, and Sailor Moon.
