Pokemon was developed and created in 1996 by Satoshi Tajiri and it quickly became one of Nintendo's largest franchises, second only to Mario Brothers.  The inspiration for Pokemon was the hobby of insect collecting.

Pokemon features a trainer who has to battle other trainers to improve their Pokemon team's skill and achieve the ultimate goal of becoming pokemon master.
