What's new in movie theaters this week (June 22)?

Three big movies open today - Friday, June 22. Topping the list is the comedy Evan Almighty,

starring Steve Carrell of The Office. John Cusack stars in the thriller 1409 and Angelina Jolie stars in A Mighty Heart as the wife of journalist Daniel Pearl, who was slain by terrorists in 2002.

Evan Almighty promises to be one of the funniest films of the year. Everything is going great for Evan Baxter. He's just been elected to Congress when God (played by Morgan Freeman) selects him for an important task - to build an arc. Hilarity ensues as Evan finds himself in the midst of an adventure of Biblical proportions.

1408 is the story of a horror writer (played by John Cusask) who discovers proof of the afterlife during a stay in suite 1408 of the infamous Dolphin Hotel. Despite warnings that the room is haunted, the writer becomes the first person to stay in 1408 in years. He's going to have a heck of a story to write - if he makes it out alive.

A Mighty Heart is the story of Mariane Pearl's struggle in the wake of her journalist husband Daniel's adbuction and murder while on assignment in Pakistan. The film recalls the terror of life just after 9/11 and brings one woman's story of courage and determination to the big screen. Angelina Jolie shines as Mariane in a film that is sure to pull your heart strings.
