Answer:
After numerous delays, reshoots and years on the shelf, The film is highly anticipated among Star Wars fans. Set in 1998, the film follows four Star Wars fanboys as they break into George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch to see The Phantom Menace on the night before its release. The latest delay for Fanboys began when fans learned that the Weinstein Co. insisted on edits that removed a plotline in which one of the fanboys has cancer. Fans on both coasts are planning to protest at screenings of the company's March 28 opening of Superhero Movie. Bucking to the pressure, co-chairman Harvey Weinstein, "Darth Weinstein" as he's being called, said the company will release both versions on DVD and is now exploring the possibility of showing both versions in theaters. Fanboys wrapped production two years ago and has been plagued by an ongoing battle between Harvey Weinstein and the filmmakers. When he screened the film in 2007, Star Wars creator George Lucas gave it his seal of approval and even gave the filmmakers permission to use Star Wars sound effects in the film. Star Wars fan and filmmaker Kevin Smith loved the film so much that he requested and was given a cameo.
