Bob Barker was a long time supporter of animal rights and animal rights activism, including groups such as the United Activists for Animal Rights and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He was so involved with animal rights that he would end every episode by reminding viewers to spay or neuter their pets. He became a vegetarian in 1979, and he began promoting animal rights the same year. In May 1985, he was name the national spokesman for “Be Kind to Animals Week.” After Barker retired and Drew Carey took over the show, he continued to close the show with Barker’s signature line about fixing your animals.
